Little Mosque on the Prairie

Does the CBC finally have something right?

Too bad I'll be in class when this series premieres, but if this show lives up to just a reasonable proportion of the hype that it's getting, it'll be the most successful CBC series since... umm, stilll trying to fill in that blank. Regardless, I'm glad to see that the creators have not shyed away from the topic because Islam is a significant part of contemporary Canadian culture in that many citizens practice that religion. I don't expect this to be some kind of eye opening educational experience, but I think humour might be a good vehicle for non muslim Canadians to familiarize with some aspects of muslim culture. Familiarity does breed comfort, right? Besides, due to the nature of this show, it doesn't even have to be that funny to be successful. As long as it is above average, the subject matter alone should pull the show through. Here's hoping the CBC has something good. Tune in Tuesday. Check your listings.

To be honest, the show is witty and funny, really funny. Sometimes reviews can be misleading since its all about someone's opinion. That brings me to the fav. critic for Metro newspaper but to my disappointment, well based on his review, the show did live to its hype. But I dont really forsee a long running future for the show.
